[Well I know teenagers who basically live on 12 hours of sleep LOVE panicked 3am voice messages. IN fact he'll pick up the communicator and sound totally out of it- like he just woke up]
[ A little while after this particular stuff goes down (yay vague time handwaving!)... Outside of Sora's door on the SS Golden, there's a small box with a note attached, addressed to him:
Sora, I couldn't convince myself to cook a goldfish, so they just have other things in them. (2 fruit, 1 egg, 1 plain) Maybe next time! ♥ - Kotoha ^-^
Inside are... four rice balls! One is a teensy bit smaller than the others, and it has no stuffing inside. The other three are the same size. One has scrambled eggs inside, one has dried plums, and the last has a sweet berry jam/sauce of some sort.
Enjoy~! Or don't, if fruit isn't quite up your alley... may the next few stops have better ingredient opportunities! ]
No problem, no problem! I'm glad you liked them! Wherever we end up next, I'm going to make sure to get some better stuffing ingredients - so there will be more where those came from~
[ She's always loved doing things like this for her friends. And here? Well, it makes space feel a little less lonely, that's for sure! ]
Enclosed please find a file override for your maintenance droids that will prevent any more unfortunate incidents such as witnessed earlier. Please inquire if you have any questions regarding how to install the program.
I am sorry for your loss.

P.S. Mr. Stark should respond to a firm "no" if you inform him you still require the parts of the destroyed droid.
[Whoa that's some message. It's a nice gesture, even if it's way more formal than Sora likes doing. He attempts a few times to write a message back, but his writing skills frankly suck, so finally he gives up and opts for calling back on the frequency this had]
[Holy shit Dezel 7am is an ungodly hour for a 15 year old. So he sounds very groggy when he answers (after taking a moment to fumble with his communicator)]
[There's no fanfare to this. Just Dezel stumbling down the hallway, staggering into Sora's room and knocking something over. He slams the door behind him and barely has the presence of mind to lock it, but he does, and then it's a simple thing to just slide down to the floor. His hat is missing, misplaced-- he doesn't care. Sora is here, thank god, and Dezel can at least protect him.]
[Sora was simple, but that didn't mean he didn't notice things. He noticed the uneasy feelings he got from Sorey the last couple times he saw him, how it made him feel unsafe despite Sorey always being nice to him. He noticed Sorey one day leaving with no word, and Mikleo and Dezel following after- again, with no word. Sure, people come and go from the Huntress all the time, but this different. There was an air of fear, or malice, in it]
[But Sora had no way to track them, and no shuttle to use, so he had to stay behind and wait. He waited in his room, occasionally pacing back and forth. When Dezel stumbles into his room, he immediately jumps over and runs over to his friend]
[Dezel doesn't respond for a moment. He's absolutely, completely exhausted from fighting the malevolence. He had to fight his way out, too, and he's covered in scratches as a result. He'll be okay in a little while, or so he tells himself, but he thinks he might be running out of time as much as Zaveid is.
Dezel needs a vessel to keep himself pure, too.]
Sorey and Mikleo... won't be back for a while. [His tone is strained; he's still trying to find his breath. His eyes are closed, thankfully, so he isn't desperately staring into nothingness.] The... the malevolence... it got to them. You need to stay away from them until something's done.
[He remembers them telling bits and pieces about what malevolence is. Something that makes things impure, dirty. He didn't really understand it himself.
H-How? How could the malevolence get to them? What does that even mean?
[He thumps his head against the door, partly out of frustration, partly... well, no, it's all out of frustration.]
Sorey was having problems. He-- he kept it from us. Hid himself away. We tried to talk him out of it, and... he was too corrupted. Mikleo covered our escape.
[He couldn't see anything, couldn't do anything. He remembers Sorey's tears, Mikleo's sad smile, and Zaveid's name dancing darkly on the hellion's lips. That wasn't Sorey anymore, not as Dezel knew him. He's lost two friends in one fell swoop, and nearly a third.
He sucks in a breath through his teeth like a wince.]

[Who likes panicked 3am voice messages? WHO LIKES THOSE? ]
Sweet Celestia, please don't tell the little pink pony I accidentally killed that bear! She'd be so mad.
So mad.
Voice;
Huh? Wha?
[A yawn]
Issat you Cheese?
Voice;
YES! Are you awake? We need to talk about the bear!!!
Voice;
[He shakes his own head, hoping it stirs him]
What about a bear?
Voice;
The bear I saved you from. You remember it, right?

There's a form. I'm almost done with it. You should leave, too.

[Well THAT wakes him up]
Leaving where?

[There's an edge in his voice but it's not directed at Sora, obviously. Something has him nervous.]
