OVERVIEW
Sora is from the AU DWRP Brave New World, a post-apocalyptic Pokemon world. About 500 years before the game takes place, there was a huge calamity where the Pokemon, sick of humanity's hubris, rose up and destroyed most of human civilization. A few isolated pockets of humanity managed to survive, and among them a select few called the Enlightened inherited special powers much like Pokemon arose. Brave New World focus on these Enlightened, as well as humanity's effort to rejoin the world once more.
-----

Sora was born in Destiny Village, a small secluded fishing village located on Destiny Island, alongside his twin brother Roxas. He met Riku and became best friends before Sora was old enough to remember. Next to Roxas and Riku who were talented in many ways, Sora was often overlooked, which nutured his competitive streak.

Like so many places in the world, Destiny had remained cut off from the rest of the world since the calamity and had long forgotten what was beyond the horizon. But things changed when Sora was 6 years old, and two young girls named Kairi and Namine washed up onto their shores. The boys befriended them and even though the girls remembered little of their life before coming to Destiny, their arrival spark within the children. The burning desire to find out what was past their horizons.

The years passed peacefully. As the children got older, they continued to dream and plan ways to get off their island. When Sora was 14, they began to construct a raft. At the same time, Sora began to have troubling dreams, but they were always quickly forgotten in the daytime.

The night before they planned to set off on the raft, everything changed. A storm came, and Sora had gone off to secure the raft. But before he could reach it, the village was attacked by the local Zubat population that had been worked into a frenzy. Sora was nearly killed, but his latent Enlightened powers awoke and saved him. He ran and got onto a fishing boat with several villagers trying to escape the zubats. But the storm caused the boat to capsize, and Sora was knocked out.

He was found much later by two rangers, washed up on a beach near the city of Union. The rangers, Donald and Goofy, had no knowledge of Sora's village, and didn't even believe his story. They brought him to their city, and tried to help him look for any family. Eventually when they couldn't find anyone and they had to return to their duties, they left him at a local orphanage with what money they could spare and a Shinx to keep him company. Before they parted, they cautioned him to keep quiet about where he thought he came from.

A year passed, and Sora struggled to adjust living in Union. Cultural differences constantly caused trouble for Sora. His grades that had always been average back home, plummented in Union. He had trouble making friends as he was often perceived as strange. Even his powers, unrefined and unpredictable, were a regular source of problems. Sora spent most of the year miserable, and he quickly became obsessed with the idea of finding a way back home.

Unfortunately for him, before he could make any headway, he was kidnapped and brought to space. Sucks to be Sora.

PERSONALITY
When a person first meets Sora, it's normal for them to completely overlook him. He's young, short, skinny and all in all pretty average looking. Being average in intelligence and not particularly driven unless pushed, it's rather no surprise many people seem dismiss him right out of hand. Even his powers as a fledging Enlightened are pretty underwhelming, being neither flashy, powerful, nor even reliable.

But what Sora lacks in sheer awe factor, he makes up for in friendliness and an outgoing nature. Sora has an easy time interacting with new people and tries to make friends wherever he goes. Unless there's something about a person that puts him ill at ease, he seems to approach most new encounters as a chance to make another friend.

While this may sound like Sora is a gullible idiot that'll get himself killed one day, he's surprisingly perceptive about people's motives. A novel once described that when he meets a new person he spends some time mentally judging them into three different categories: good, bad and suspicious for those rare people that he has trouble pinpointing their true alignment. But aside from those rare cases, his perception and intuition works extremely well and it's hard for someone with malicious intent to pull the wool over his eyes.

Intelligence wise, Sora is best described as simple. Complicated concepts tend to go over his head, and he's nowhere near as philosophical as his friend Riku. Many remark that he can be slow on the uptake, and it's not without merit. However, he isn't without his clever moments. His simple way of thinking frequently benefits him too, allowing him to cut through to the heart of the matter of an issue instead of getting stuck on the smaller details.

All in all, when things are peaceful Sora is a boy at peace. While he enjoys adventure, he seems most content just spending a fun day with his friends. Riku originally wanted to leave the islands with zero intent or desire to return one day, Sora seems to hang onto the dream that one day he'll get to return home with his friends. Having that dream threatened or taken away often results in Sora getting depressed or more easily agitated.

While the past year of Sora's life have made him grow and mature in a lot of ways, he's still very much a kid. He gets easily excited about new things and just as quickly angry over little things that more mature people overlook. He can be competitive and do bratty things like stick out his tongue or being a complete smart-mouth. When something bothers him enough, he'll become extremely stubborn and not let it go. He also has a tendency to get stuck in the moment and forget the bigger picture- which sometimes lands him into serious trouble. He's a good kid, but very much a kid.

Of course all these above mentioned personality traits match how he acts in canon. And since this Sora is from an AU, a question is how does he differ?

Several ways. First of all, unlike canon Sora, BNW!Sora was never chosen to do anything. Sure, he had special powers awaken, but he is far from the only Enlightened in his world. There was no trumpeting call to duty, no universes to save. Sora never had to fight in a war, or make the hard choices. But on the other hand, he never had a chance to make all the friends he did, or have his horizons expand from his journeys. He is much more naive about what is out there in the world (much like Sora in the first Kingdom Hearts). He feels much less compelled to get in the middle of business that doesn't directly involve him. He still has the more typical viewpoint of a teenage civilian than any sort of hero, such as things like fighting crime is something for the cops, not him. Would he still step in if there was something going on right in front of him? Most likely. But this Sora isn't about to run a crusade against darkness anytime soon.

Due to him being feel compelled to hide his origins, Sora's had a harder time establishing strong bonds in his past year of life. He doesn't know anyone in Union, and while the other people at the orphanage and his school find him friendly enough- there's no shaking that there was just something odd about him. Union was a place that had been under extreme isolation for the past 500 years. As such, they had absolutely no frame of reference to recognize unfamiliarity to their customs due to being a foreigner. So Sora's different way of speaking, his gestures, his lack of basic Union cultural knowledge would often be interpreted as signs that Sora was either very odd or very stupid instead of being the telltale signs of being from elsewhere. Which would make many people a bit more reluctant to befriend him.

This has caused Sora to feel rather isolated and alone in his new city. Which for a kid that relies on his friends for strength? That's no small thing. It's made his desire to find a way home into a full blown fixation. He's convinced himself that all he has to do is get himself home and then everything would be just fine. At this point, he refuses to acknowledge the very definite possibility that there may be no home lef. In his goals of regain what he lost in his home and with no one to really keep him in check, he's also become rather reckless. Anything that might lead to finding his way back home is worth trying, even if it's absolutely dangerous.

☄ First Impressions

♚ VISUAL: Very short (~4'10") and on the scrawny side, Sora has the look of a very young teenager. Spikey brown hair, Elijah Wood Blue eyes, and big feet. In terms of attractiveness for other teenagers, he's about average.
♚ FASHION: Super casual. Shorts, hoodie t-shirts, sneakers, fingerless gloves or equivalent. Clothes mysteriously have higher than average zipper and belt ratio. Doesn't mind the default jumper.
♚ DEMEANOUR: FRIENDLY. Most of the time, Sora is a laid back and friendly person. Easily excitable and easily entertained. Pretty simple in his thinking. However if you give off hostile/malicious feelings, he acts much more defensive and aggressive.
♚ AURAL: Voiced by Haley Joel Osment. Not even going to speculate about accents in a Pokemon AU world, so he sounds like his canon self.
♚ OLFACTORY: Like someone who spends too much time with animals. /throws him in a tub
♚ MENTAL INFORMATION: No mental shields! Sora is a psychic whose powers are based very much in emotions, and is also very untrained. Unfortunately, strong negative emotions he feels can result in his powers manifesting in destructive ways. Oops.
♚ MAGICAL INFORMATION: He's got some superpowers, but they are pretty mediocre in terms of strength. Has potential to get stronger though?

☄ OOC

♚ BACKTAGGING: I love backtagging!
♚ FOURTHWALLING: I am 100% okay with people knowing about Pokemon via the franchise, and I'm fine with people knowing about Sora through RP memories. I'd prefer to avoid telling Sora that he's a fictional character though, and any major canon spoilers I'd rather a castmate get that honor of telling him. Kingdom Heart III spoilers are forbidden.
♚ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Sora is fine with physical affection! Though he's 15 and disney, so keep it PG.
♚ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Talk to me! Outside of permanent injury or death, I'd likely be fine with it.
♚ RELATIONSHIPS: Unlikely, but I'm flexible.

☄ Permissions

♚ EMPATH: At Sora's current power level, he can sense if someone is feeling hostile or particularly malicious! This only works in person and not over a network.
♚ KINDRED SPIRIT: Sora can speak with animals because he's disney due to his Enlightened abilities. So any information that an animal might likely know and care enough to relay might be known to Sora (I emphasize it'd just be stuff an animal cares enough to mention).
